Police on Sunday seized as much as 26 kg of ganja and arrested two persons in Bargarh district for their alleged involvement in peddling of the contraband.
Acting on reliable inputs, the Barpali police intercepted a private bus and seized the marijuana in morning. The accused were travelling by the bus and were on their way to Bargarh when it was stopped near the women's college here.
The arrested were identified as an uncle-nephew duo, Nilakantha Mahananda and Binod Sagaria, hailing from Muthapalli village in Kandhamal district. Nilakantha is Binod's maternal uncle.
The two were arrested under several Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and would be forwarded to court on Monday, sources said.
