A resident of Jayadev Vihar, Saroj Sahu, got the shock of his life when he was looted of money and mobile phone when he gave lift to a woman on his two-wheeler on Wednesday morning.
Police sources said the woman asked Sahu for a lift at PMG Square to Market Building, to which Sahu agreed. But on the way, she threatened Sahu and snatched cash of Rs2,500 and his mobile phone. Sahu, fearing that the woman might create a scene, did not offer any resistance.
However, Sahu rushed to the Capital police station and informed the police about his ordeal. Immediately, the police swung into action and managed to nab the woman and recovered the looted money and mobile phone.
Notably, some months ago, a gang of woman having a similar modus operandi had spread panic in the Kharavel Nagar area. They asked for a lift and when a Good Samaritan gave them the lift, they threatened him to scream that he tried to outrage their modesty and decamped with his valuables. The police now suspect that the same gang is on the prowl again.
