A man allegedly murdered his wife and buried her body in the backyard of his house at Sabadega village under the Talsara police station in Sundargarh district.
Though the accused, identified as Khairu Nayak, committed the crime on Saturday, the incident came to the fore on Tuesday when he confessed about it to police. According to reports, the locals noticed the absence of the woman Sakuntala in the locality as she was working as a maid in several houses of the village. Suspecting foul play, they questioned Khairu. On being informed by villagers, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
Khairu was detained by the cops for questioning. It was ascertained that he had an extramarital affair with a widow Biskha Pradhan, and the killing was a fallout of that.
However , following sustained interrogation, Khairu confessed that he and Bishkha killed Sankuntala and buried her body in the backward. Both of them have been arrested and the body was exhumed and send for postmortem.
