A man was allegedly killed over a land dispute at Pipalpanga village under the Sarangada police station in Kandhamal district on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Jogeswar Pradhan. As per a complaint lodged by the son of Jogeswar with police, his father was sitting at the verandah of his house when a neighbour Nojar Pradhan abused him and thrashed him.
After Jogeswar fell down, Nojar stood on the former’s neck strangling him to death on the spot, the deceased’s son alleged. He said Pradhan killed his father over land dispute.
Police have started investigation into the incident and a hunt was on to trace and nab the accused, who is absconding after the incident.
