Man jumps to death from Na'tala

PNS

A middle-aged man working as an assistant senior manager with Reliance in Surat jumped to his death from the nine-storied Heads of the Department’s building, popularly known as Na’tala here. The deceased, identified as Pratap Chandra Swain (48), a native of Nilagiri in Baleswar district, was said to be mentally unstable.

The man fell face down on an extended concrete portico on the third floor of the building in a pool of blood and died instantly. The reason behind his death was yet to be ascertained. Sources said Swain who was on a visit to his father-in-law’s house at Unit-VIII here, had come to the Unit-I market with his family. Though no suicide note was found from the spot, circumstantial evidence suggested it was a case of suicide. Only a pair of footwear and a cigarette packet were found on the spot. Fire brigade personnel were pressed into service to recover the body. Registering an unnatural death case, the police started investigation. The body was sent to the Capital Hospital for an autopsy.
