A man who had committed a murder over a decade ago in Hyderabad and was evading arrest finally fell into police net on Thursday night at Subdarapokhari village under the Korei police station in Jajpur district.

The Hyderabad police took him to custody on the basis of a non-bailable warrant issued against him by a court in Andhra Pradesh.

Purna Chandra Parida (32) had killed a timber trader in Hyderabad in 2001. He had been arrested then and was bailed out after six months. He later did not turn up despite being summoned by a local court.

Officer-in-Charge of Korei police station Chitta Ranjan Behera said, “Andhra Pradesh police sought our help. The accused was apprehended in his native village.”
