The Commissionerate Police on Thursday afternoon arrested a 30-year-old man on charges of assaulting noted devotional singer Arabinda Muduli (54) here.
The arrested was identified as Ila Behera.
Muduli alleged that he was injured after the drunkard Ila launched an attack on him in front of his residence in Bhimtangi under the Airfield police limits in the city.
The incident took place when Muduli was returning to his residence with his son.
The singer said two alcoholic youths had obstructed his way. When his son intervened and asked them to clear the road, all of a sudden one of the youth assaulted him, he added.
“When I intervened, they also assaulted me. I lost my sense. later locals rescued
me and rushed me to the nearest hospital for treatment,” said the singer.
Acting on Muduli’s written complaint, the police arrested the accused on the basis of CCTV footage, which recorded the entire sequence of events.
