A man brutally attacked three members of his in-laws’ family at Kusuda village under the Kamarda police station in Baleswar district on Tuesday, killing a person and injuring two others.
However, the exact reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained.
Sources said one Jaga Mahuri of Patharakata village under the Bhograi police station, went to his in-laws’ house at Kusuda village and all of a sudden, h attacked his mother-in-law Gouribala Mahuri with a sharp weapon.
When his father-in-law Susanta tried to come to is rescue, Jaga hacked him on his neck. He also attacked his sister-in-law Susmita.
Hearing their screams, when a few locals rushed to the spot, Jaga tried to flee from the spo. But, the villagers chased and nabbed him.
All the injured were rushed to the GK Bhattar Community Health Centre (CHC). However, Susanta was declared dead by doctors at the hospital. The condition of two others was stated to be critical.
On getting information, the Kamarda police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
