Even as four suspects were detained by the police in connection with the Puri railway station fire incident on Thursday, in which a total of five coaches of three express trains were gutted, no breakthrough has yet been achieved by the investigating officials.

“As of now, we have not succeeded to get any clues in the matter.  The investigation is in preliminary stage,” GRP ADG M Nageswar Rao told reporters on Friday.

According to railway officials, out of four detainees, one Ram Chandran Subas of Tamil Nadu was arrested and forwarded to court on Friday afternoon. Police had seized a knife, blade and match box from him.

Notably, the Government Railway Police had detained four persons, including Subas, as they were found roaming near the burning coach of Nandankanan Express in a suspicious condition. The three others are being interrogated for their complicity in the incident in which five bogies of three trains, Nilachal Express, Tirupati Express and Nandankanan Express, were gutted. Sources said they would be forwarded to court on Saturday.
