In a bizarre incident, a patient was allegedly beaten to death by a co-patient at the Rourkela Government Hospital here on Sunday.
A brawl had ensued between the two in early morning which turned ugly resulting in the death of one of them. Accused Jadav Munda attacked the other patient identified as Sambhunath Mundari with an iron rod.
"I ran towards the bed after hearing a loud noise. I saw my father bleeding profusely. I informed this to security and nursing staffs. The doctor came and checked my father," Bhala Mundari, son of the deceased, said. The reason behind the attack was yet to be known. Police are investigating into the case. The accused patient, who had been admitted with wounds on his leg, however, fled from the hospital.
The 55-year-old deceased hailed from Dharanidharpur village of Gurundia block under the Birkera police limits in Sundargarh district.
