A 50-year-old man was charred to death and his wife sustained critical injuries after a fire broke out in their house at Sunduri village under the Sadar police station in the district late on Monday night.
The deceased, identified as Kusha Bharati, was a supplier of fish and poultry feeds.
While the reason of fire accident is yet to be ascertained, police began investigation after sending the body for postmortem. According to sources, after noticing smoke emanating from the house, Bharati’s neighbour informed Fire Services immediately.
But before the fire tenders arrived the flames had engulfed the entire house and Bharati was burnt alive. The woman was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital.
