PNS

Four persons of a family were killed after one of them allegedly set their house on fire at Banapat village under the Kujang police station in the district late on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Nabaghana Sahu, his wife Kamala Sahu, daughter Rubina Mallick and son-in-law Harekrushna Mallick.

While Nabaghana, Kamala and Harekrushna died on the spot after the fire broke out in their house, Rubina succumbed to burn injuries while being taken to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.

Though the exact reason behind the incident is still unclear, neighbours said that the Rubina and Harekrushna got married six months ago and there was some feud going on in the family over some issue.

They also mentioned that due to the dispute Rubina was staying with her parent since a few days. Harekrushna who hails from Bhadrak had arrived at the village to solve the issue.

Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and launched a probe into the incident. Beside, a scientific team has also reached the spot to gather evidence.
