A woman on Sunday lodged a complaint with the Pipili police alleging that his 76-year-old father-in- law attempted to rape her at Satasankha village under the Pipili police station in the district.
The woman also submitted a video of the incident to police to corroborate her allegations.
As per the complaint, since her husband works with the railways and posted outside the State, her father-in-law, a former RPF Inspector allegedly outraged her modesty several times.
Though she had informed the matter to her husband and other members in the house, they turned a deaf ear to her allegations. The woman also further alleged that she was physically and mental tortured by her husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law for dowry.
“My in-laws used to harass me mentally and physically. Since my husband stays outside, my father-in-law took advantage of this. He had attempted to rape me last time on August 8. Now I am staying at my parents’ house. I want justice and stringent action against all of them,” said the victim to mediapersons.
Pipili Police Station IIC Sarat Chandar Sahu said “We have registered a case in this connection. Appropriate action would be taken after investigation.”
