The BJP on Sunday accused the Chief Minister of putting pressure on police by sharing dais with Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra, who is the ‘main conspirator’ behind the Mamita murder case.
Party State general secretary Lekhashri Samantsinghar alleged that the statement made by DIG (Northern Range) Deepak Kumar on Saturday reacting to the allegation of police biasness was more of a BJD spokesperson than a police officer. She said the State Government is throwing no stone unturned to cover up the incident and involvement of Minister Mishra’s, who all along patronised main accused Govinda Sahu. Samantsinghar raised a score of questions on police investigations.
Reiterating the BJP’s demand for a CBI inquiry into the case, she said the statement made by the DIG raises questions on the entire police department’s activities.
In her reaction to Samantsinghar’s statement, BJD spokesperson Ipsita Sahu said it is better for the former to move legal court with evidence about the Mamita case than indulging in alleged baseless allegations.
