Women and Child Development Minister Usha Devi on Wednesday informed the Assembly that as per the September 13, 2006 report of State Commission for Women (SCW) there were 48 active and 21 retired prostitutes at Malisahi in Bhubaneswar.
“On September 13, 2006, the SCW in a meeting held under the chairmanship of the then Women and Child Development Minister had given a report which had revealed that as many as 48 active and 21 retired prostitutes were staying at Malisahi in Bhubaneswar,” said the Minister in a response to query of MlA Bhujabal Majhi. The Minister further informed that her department has no information about the rehabilitation of prostitutes.
