Saradhamani Mahapatra, mother of Bhagaban Mahapatra, alias Guna Simhari, who was gunned down by some BJD activists on August 22, 2012 in a Press meet on Thursday alleged that Minister Maheswar Mohanty is involved in the murder of her son Guna while local BJD MP Pinaki Mishra is a party to it as he has been giving legal help to the accused.
She demanded a CBI probe into the case to unravel the truth behind her son’s murder. Saradhamani alleged that Mohanty is involved in his son’s murder as the main accused Kalia Padhihari is a known protégé of the Minister. Citing the apex court’s order which bailed out the main accused in Guna murder case, she said local BJD MP Mishra conducted the case in the court as defence counsel. This proves that Mishra too is involved, she said.
Saradhamani was arrested along with seven other persons in connection with the firing incident on Minister Mohanty last month. She was recently released on bail on health ground. After release, she alleged that said she was being subjected to police harassment which falsely implicated her in this case and sent her to jail.
She said Minister Mohanty was named by the accused persons in his son’s murder during interrogation. As Mohanty was a Minister then, police doctored the statements of the accused persons to protect the Minister, she alleged. She demanded that CBI be allowed to probe the murder case to unmask the real culprits. She said the police at the instance of some persons falsely implicated her in attack on Mohanty. She also announced to be a candidate in the coming elections against Mohanty. The reactions of the law Minister and MP Mishra could not be obtained.
