The Manav Adhikar Suraksha Manch and various other organisations observed the 172nd birth anniversary of Utkal Gaurab Madhu Sudan Das here on Sunday.
Manch members garlanded the Madhubabu statue located at Gandhinagar and remembered his contributions in formation of Odisha on language basis. Sudhir Khadanga, Bijya Chain Bisoyi, Sham Shiv Rao, Maguni Nahak and Chitaranjan Panda were present, among others.
The Ajira Odisha Darbar, a fortnight newspaper, observed the Madhubabu Jayanti at Bijipur. A commemorative meeting held under the occasion was presided over by litterateur Dr Chandramani Swain. State awardee headmaster Ajit Kumar Mohapatro, Jitendra Patnaik and Saritapanda graced as guests. Newspaper editor Rabindra Kumar Moharana delivered the welcome address. Among others, Prasant Kumar Mohapatro, Padmini Mishra and Siddhartha Patajoshi also paid tributes to Madhubabu.
Similarly, the Utkal Sammilani, Ganjam Branch and the Odisha State Soundhik Samaj observed the day amid much serenity.
Soundhik Samaj president Prabhakar Sahu, PRO Bhismacharya Choudhuri, Sabita Sahukar, Mamatra Sahu, Dr Sagar Ranjan Tripathy, Laxmi Nayarayan Rout and Manas Ranjan Patro remembered Madhubahu.
