As anticipated earlier, brother and daughter of late Congress leader lalatendu Bidyadhar (lulu) Mohapatra joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a special function at the Exhibition Ground here in the presence of several senior BJP leaders, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
lulu’s younger brother lalitendu and daughter Upasana joined the saffron party along with a large number of their supporters.
Besides, a large number of Congress leaders and workers of the Brahmagiri Assembly constituency, several leaders and members of the lulu Sena, a youth brigade named after the deceased leader, also joined the BJP.
lalitendu and Upasana said lulu Mohapatra, who worked for the Congress for 25 long years, had a feeling of being tortured in the party since 2016 and was not participating in any activities of the party.
This apart, former State Youth Congress president Satyajeet Patnaik and senior advocate Pitambar Acharya also joined the BJP at the function.
