Vigilance sleuths arrested lower Indra Irrigation Project, Khariar R and R PD office Cashier Sishir Sahu for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from lumbipani Village Bisthapita Samiti president Hrushikesh Behera to sanction rehabilitation assistance to two displanced persons, Bhuban Paharia and Jadu Paharia.According to complaints, Bhuban and Jadu had already been paid first installments of Rs 2.10 lakh and Rs 2,62 lakh, respectively. However, the cahsier demanded bribe to release the rest amount to their bank accounts.
The Vigilance sleuths caught Sahu red-hand while taking bribe from the complainant. Sahu would be forwarded to court after completion of the formalities, Vigilance DSP Satyaban Mahanand. Vigilance Inspector Sibaram Sahu and other officials were present.
