: A couple’s bodies were found hanging from a tree near Jodipai village of Chanabada panchayat under the Dasamantapur police station in Koraput district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Mahindra Hikaka and Jubanti Muska of Jodipai. They were found dead under mysterious circumstances in the morning. The Dasamantapur police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem.
“They were in love for nearly two years. However, the family of the boy had been opposing this leading to their death,” the girl’s elder sister Nandini said.
“I do not know anything as to why they died. I even did not know if they were in love. Since they have died, I will inform police about it and cremate the bodies. I do not suspect anyone to have killed them,” the boy’s father Madhu Hikaka said.
“The exact reason behind the deaths has not been ascertained yet,” a police official said.
