A young pair committed suicide by consuming poison in Nabarangpur district.
The duo identified as Niladhara Bhadra and Rukmini Bisoi was rescued from near the Nileikupuli hill under the Tentulikhunti police limits in critical conditions early on Wednesday morning and rushed to a hospital.
However, the duo succumbed to the effects of poison while undergoing treatment at the Tentulikhunti Community Health Centre (CHC).
According to reports, the lovebirds belonging to Patharalasa village under Nandahandi block in the district had been missing since Tuesday evening. Their family members launched a search operation but found them in critical conditions.
The two took the extreme step as their families were opposed to their relationship and had fixed the girl’s marriage somewhere else. The marriage was scheduled to be held next month.
