In a bizarre incident, the owner of a poultry farm of Nilgiri alleged that as many as 63 chickens of his farm died of noise pollution caused by the sound of DJ band which was played during a marriage procession. The owner, Ranjit Parida alleged the poultry birds who were lodged in the farm along with others at Kandagaradi suffered heart attack due to the high decibel noise. According to Parida, the incident took place on November 21 at around 11 pm and the birds behaved abnormally unable to bear with the high pitch sound.
He further alleged although he appealed to the participants of the wedding procession to reduce the pitch of the noise while it was passing through his farm, yet they didn’t pay any heed and rather, scolded him. They deliberately stopped in front of the poultry farm for around 15 minutes and played music aloud, he alleged, adding that although he approached to the family members for compensation which they agreed but subsequently, they turned it down. Parida demanded compensation for the loss and action against those responsible for the death of the birds. Reports said that the farm has about 2,000 birds and after receiving information, a team of veterinary officials on Wednesday visited the farm and examined other birds. Latest reports added that although Parida had gone to lodge an FIR with police yet the issue was resolved following a compromise between the two parties.
