Lords return to temple after 12 days

SAROJ KUMAR MISHRA

The Rath Yatra of Puri came to an end with Niladri Bije (the Trinity’s return to the Shreemandir) on Tuesday night.

After a 12-day-long tour, the homecoming of the Lords cheered the devotees, who had long been waiting to relish the Mahaprasad in the temple.

From Wednesday, rice bhogs cooked in temple kitchen would be offered to the deities, which is called Nilachal Abhada.

Similalry, the Rasagola Day was also celebrated to mark the Lakshmi-Narayan Bhet ritual of Lord Jagannath. As the Lord had visited the Gundicha Temple without Mahalakshmi’s company, He had to repent his blunder by ultimately appeasing her with sweets.

For this, tonnes of sweetmeats were sold near here with local public welcoming the deities by offering the Rasagola during the Niladri Bije rite.

As per schedule, deities were taken to the temple through Goti Pahandi (marching one after another of deities) unlike Dhadi-Pahandi

(marching in queue) in the Gundicha festival.
