Odisha Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes legislators’ Coordination Council general secretary Sura Sethi has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for welfare of SC/ST and minorities in the country.
The memorandum containing two proposals specified that though the National SC/ ST Financial Development Corporation and National Minorities Financial Development Corporation provide loan to deserving SC/ST families, the loanees face utter oppression from the officers in charge of loan repayment, making their life from bad to worse. Thus, the body demanded that like agricultural loans, the loan of the SC/ST and Minorities people be waived.
Besides, the council has also proposed introduction of Constitutional provisions to curb interference of the judiciary in the Articles of ‘rights and guarantees' kept for the reserved categories to ensure equality for these sections of the society. A copy of the memorandum has also been submitted to Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.
