The Government has taken an in-principle decision to adopt liver transplant programme (lTP) at the SCB Medical College Hospital, and, for this, equipments are being purchased in a phased manner.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak informed this in the State Assembly on Friday in a written reply to a question put by Ranendra Pratap Swain.
The Minister further informed that employees to be engaged in the programme are being trained in a phased manner. A total of 18 doctors, including GI Surgery Professor Mihir Kumar Mohapatra and Surgery Specialist Dr Pradipta Kumar Mallick, Hepatology Professor UC Patra, Anesthesiology Professor Dr Nibedita Pani, Radiology SR Dr Swati Das and Pathology Assistant Professor Kumudee Pattnaik have been allowed to undergo training for liver plantation. Besides , 13 paramedical staffs have been selected for training, the Minister said.
