The Poet Chandra Kumar Mohanty Memorial Committee held a seminar here. Several eminent personalities in literary field including Shailaj Rabi and Dash Benhur deliberated on the topic, ‘Nationality and regional literature.’
The speakers said that no literature can be branded as regional since it depicts human conflicts and values which have commonality and universality. Hence, literature can’t be confined to any singular boundary drawn over geographical, political or social line. A rural literature of any country can hit the global society if the messages have universal appeals, they said.
Three great epics, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Gita were accepted by the world society at large due their teachings and universal appeal. They were never considered as regional literature, they said.
Several speakers also remembered the literary contributions of Chandra Mohanty. Goutam Budhha Das, Dr Subash Chandra Patra , Pranta Das, Dr Prahallad Chandra Mohanty , Dr Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Kalipada Panda, Jayant Das, Ubachak Mohanty, Utpal Mohanty and Annapurna Rout among others spoke.
