Describing software engineer and social activist linkan Subudhi as a “braveheart”, Chief Minister Naveen Ptnaik on Monday said the State Government is considering conferring the Biju Patnaik Bravery Award on her for the year 2013.
linkan was brutally attacked in Noida on September 22 while rescuing a minor girl from a forced marriage. The 15-year-old girl’s groom-to-be and mother stabbed linkan and hammered her with bricks and causing serious head injuries .
linkan, who returned to Bhubaneswar last week, met the Chief Minister at the State Secretariat on Monday to express his gratitude for his gesture in announcing to bear her treatment cost. Patnaik presented her a memoir of silver artifact. linkan said the bravery award would motivate her to do more social work, fight for the cause of slum dwellers and serve those in distress, particularly women.
