Life in K’jhar, G’pati & Ganjam hit

PNS

Normal life was affected in Keonjhar, Gajapati and Ganjam districts on Tuesday on the first day of a two-day Bharat Bandh call given by the central trade unions against the Union Government’s anti-worker policies.

The strike crippled normal life in the three districts as the public transport like buses remained off road causing inconvenience to thousands of passengers. Trucks and other heavy vehicles also remained off road and were seen lined up in many places, bringing the commercial transport to a grinding halt.

Besides, shops at major markets and business establishments downed their shutters in view of the Bandh call.

Keonjhar district AITUC leaders Maheswar Rout, Bidyadhar Mahanta, Kailash Chandra Swain, Shrihari Ghana and Rangadhara Patra said that it was successful and thanked for the support.

Similarly, Gajapati CPI(M) leader Jona Subash said the Bandh was successful as it evoked spontaneous support from locals, small traders, business establishments and transport bodies.
