Sir,
This refers to Mr Priyadarshi Datta's article, "Expect the worst in Valley" published in The Pioneer of 22.02.2019. I wish to supplement Mr Datta's excellent and analytical article:
1. The author attributes to the alienation of a section of Kashmiris due to Wahabi influence. Why this influence was not successful in creating a monolithic Islamic State from North Africa to Indonesia?
2. One wonders how these Kashmiri Azadi seekers forgot why East Pakistan became Bangkadesh in 1971. Do they have the azadi to embrace another faith or just become atheists or agnostics?
May I remind them that Muslims of Pakistan do not enjoy a fraction freedom enjoyed by Indians including Muslims. This has to be instilled in the minds of the azadi seekers and convince them. They should not be allowed to become the pawns of jihadis beyond the border and who are no friends or well wishers.
3. Leaders like Farooq Abdullah, his son Omar, Mehbooba Mufti et al failed to identify and much less punish those responsible for selective murder of some 1000 Kashmiri Hindus and harrassing them in various ways that compelled them to leave their hearths and homes to become refugees in their own country.
4. It is obvious that human rights are available to the oppressed law abiding citizens and not to law breakers and much less to nation breakers. I agree with the author that Army giving an apology for the Budgam incident and the prime minister taking credit for it was not proper because the separatists are using human rights as a shield for their nefarious activities.
Yours truly,
