Utkal Bharat president and former Baleswar MP Kharabela Swain on Saturday demanded that the cases of chit fund scam be tried in a court outside Odisha as several persons in very high posts including top politicians, bureaucrats and people in judiciary are involved in it.
“The volume of the scam is very high and people including top politicians, bureaucrats and people in judiciary are involved in the scam. The CBI is under tremendous pressure. like the J Jayalalithaa case, this scam should be tried outside the State,” Swain told reporters here.
“No transparent deal was made when the plot and building were purchased by former AG Asok Mohanty from the AT Group chief. How could the transactions be made with mere affidavitsIJ Besides, when the deal materialised at that time AT Group CMD Pradeep Sethy was absconding and seeking pre-arrest bail. Many persons in top echelons were involved in the nexus. Further, the way the ex-AG was given bail hurriedly was surprising,” he alleged.
Swain added that he has apprised about the matter to the Supreme court, under whose direction the CBI probe into the chit fund scam is underway.
