'let B'pur civic body focus on waste processing'

PNS

The Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) should come out with strategic focus on sanitation to improve sanitation and other development aspect.

This was suggested by the Youth for Social Development (YSD). It said that the BeMC seriously needs a waste processing plant for waste processing by 100 per cent. It should adopt sanitary landfill practice, remediation of existing dumps, waste segregation practice in all the wards, and on-site of decentralised composting practice.

There is also a need for a strong intervention to clean up public places such as bus stops and bust stations.

Construction of community/public toilets is a need of the hour. On the other hand, households not having toilet should be provided IHHl under the Swachha Bharat Scheme (SBM) to make slums and city open defecation free.

All community and public toilets should be gender, child friendly and disable friendly and all community and public toilets should be well lit, ventilated with water supply/flush and with electricity connection.

The BeMC needs to achieve 100 per cent grievance redressal within the time frame. It should use of ICT based (Mobile Application and IVR) grievance mechanism. For all this, the budget allocation for sanitation and special attention should be hiked.

last but not the least, the YSD suggested to encourage citizen participation to involve citizen, civil society, business community and other private sector to improve the sanitation

situation. And, it also should organise citizen consultation for better implementation of projects and participate in the survey in large scale.
