The leopard, which was undergoing treatment at the Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT) here after being rescued from the Nakchi PWD bungalow premises under Athmallik Wildlife Division in a critical condition on Monday, died on Friday morning.

The leopard had fractures in its backbone, due to which it was suffering from paralysis.

Athmallik Wildlife officials had brought the animal to Nandankanan, where the zoo staff conducted preliminary treatment. As the leopard’s health condition deteriorated, it was shifted to the veterinary wing of the OUAT on Tuesday morning where the doctors found that due to deep injuries in the spine, the leopard had gone paralytic and was unable to move its legs.

After treatment at the OUAT, the animal was shifted to Nandankanan on Wednesday but was again shifted to the  OUAT in a critical condition on Friday.
