The All Odisha Non-Government Aided and Unaided College (+2 and +3) Teaching and Nonteaching Employees’ Association in its meeting here on Monday demanded that the teachers appointed after 2008 be covered under the Grant-in-Aid (GIA) policy before asking them to stay at their workplaces for seven hours.
Notably, the Higher Education and the School and Mass Education Departments have issued circulars asking the college teachers to stay in their workplace at least for seven hours.
While the Government college teachers association has not yet keep its opinion on the new rule, the private aided and unaided college associations have demanded pay parity.
“There are various categories of teachers in a college with different statuses and pay scales. As such, demanding same working hours from all is unjust. However, if the Government decides to pay equal pay for equal work, there is no problem to obey the 7- hour rule,” said the association members. Among others, association president Dr Nabakishore Mishra, general secretary Dr Ramesh Chandra Behera, Rajkishore Barik, Dipak Sahu, Prassan Kumar Padhi and Eti Sundara spoke.
