Serving a two-week ultimatum to the State Government, the Bar Council of Odisha and the SAT Bar Association on Monday decided to attend the courts from Tuesday after a delegation met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here.
The lawyers across the State boycotted the courts on Monday protesting the State Government's "arbitrary" decision to abolish the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).
"We submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister. He assured us to look into our demands. We have urged him to take a positive decision within 14 days by recalling the September 9 Cabinet decision," said Bar Council Chairman Manas Mohapatra.
However, he said the lawyers would work by wearing black badges as a mark of protest till any further decision was taken in this regard. Before meeting the Chief Minister the lawyers met law Minister Arun Sahoo and apprised him about their grievances.
"If the Government does not respond to our demand, we would decide our next course of action," added Mohapatra.
The lawyers were seen sitting on dharana in front of the courts raising slogans against the Government decision.
Meanwhile, forwarding the memorandums received by him by different lawyers' bodies to the Union Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Minister Jitendra Singh, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urged him to consider their grievances and take a decision for the sake of
Government employees.
