PNS

A gang of unidentified dacoits looted valuables worth about Rs 6 lakhs from the house of advocate Subash Chandra Patra here on Monday afternoon.

Patra, a Government Advocate and former joint secretary of Ganjam Bar Association, is a resident of Jyoti Nagar Sixth line under the Brahmapur Sadar police station. During the incident, Patra was in court while his wife was in his father-in-law’s house and the house was locked.

The dacoits broke the lock and stole 18 tolas of gold, five tolas of silver and cash of about Rs 10,000 and ransacked household articles. After Patra lodged an FIR at the police station, the investigation is now on to nab the culprits.

locals now question the capability of the police in tackling crimes in the city where thefts, hooliganism, bombardments and firing have been a regular affair for last several months.
