lawyers demand labour Court in Brahmapur

PNS

The Ganjam Bar Association on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the RDC addressed to the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary demanding setting up of a labour Court here.

Of late, many industries have mushroomed on the periphery of the city, which is located in the heart of the district. Grasim Caustic Soda factory, Titanium factory, Indian Rare Earths limited, the Aska sugar mills and Gopalpur port’s employees have to travel all the way to Jeypore labour Court for their problems.

Due to which many employees and workers are surrendering before fighting the cases. In the coming days, with the setting up of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) many more industries are expected to come up. So, setting up of a  labour Court here is justified, said secretary of the association Pitabash Panda.

Out of the total population of the district of 37 lakhs, the population of workers is 10 lakh.  Besides, nearly 5 lakh are engaged in agriculture or work as agricultural workers. The labour Court here can provide justice to lakhs of workers, said Panda. Among others, Minati Rath, Siva Prasad Mishra,  Ajit Kumar Hota, Pradip Dash Kailash Mishra and many other lawyers were present.
