land grab slur against WODC chief

PNS

Revenue Minister Bijayshree Routray on Wednesday assured the State Assembly that the State Government would certainly take action if land grab allegation against Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Chairman Kishore Mohanty and his family members was found true.  The Minister said this while participating in a 30-minute discussion proposed by Congress member Naba Kishore Das and BJP member Radharani Panda.

The two members alleged that the former Speaker and the incumbent WODC Chairman has recorded 316 decimal land in his, his wife Alaka Mohanty’s and minor son Purushottam Monanty’s names fraudulently in Jharsuguda town area.

They said Mohanty took possession of the land by influencing Government officers and violating land consolidation laws, while the leaseholders of the land had lost right to sell the land. They said the Revenue Inspector had mentioned in his report that the lease period of the land had expired since March 3, 1945.
