In an unexpected development, shortage of supply of oxygen has affected several patients in the Balangir District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) since last two days.
According to sources, when the condition of a patient become serious a day ago, a private machine generating oxygen was arranged which managed the situation, said a hospital official.
“We are now trying to arrange oxygen cylinders from a periphery hospital,” he said, adding, “We have also informed the situation to the higher authorities.
He further said that there are funds with the NRHM and Rogi Kalyan Samiti. The authorities should explore the possibility of purchase of oxygen generator to save patients, he said.
Till the oxygen supply to the hospital is resumed, patients are having a horrible time.
