PNS

In a recent letter to the director of women welfare directorate Yogendra Yadav, the chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Usha Negi said that presently, the lack of coordination among the various departments in Dehradun district is encouraging the drug dealers to push children into selling drugs.

Explaining the issue in the district in the present time, Negi stated that the police express their inability to file any report against children while owing to the risk of Covid-19 contagion,

the Childline services and district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) also seem to be apprehensive to take rescued children to the shelter homes to give them the required protection. Due to no initiation in the police investigation in the cases of such children, the juvenile justice board is also unable to take any action in the matter, added Negi.

She said that the drug dealers are taking advantage of this situation and pushing children towards this criminal practice. According to her, the lack of coordination and cooperation is also creating problems in the rehabilitation of the rescued children.

herefore, Negi asked Yadav to arrange a meeting with said departments including DM and chief medical officer within 15 days. She directed Yadav to notify  commission about meeting within one week.
