At least two persons of a family died whereas three others, including a minor boy, a woman and the driver, sustained critical injuries on Monday noon following the car in which they were boarded collided with a bridge near Alabanka Chowk on Paradip-Daitary Express Way on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Pramod Sahu (45) and his septuagenarian father Akuli Sahu. The critically injured are lipika Sahu, Narendra Sahu (12) and driver Prabhat Ranjan Mantry.
According to police, the family of Pasta village was returning from Cuttack where they had gone for health checkup of Akuli when the car in which they were travelling in lost balance and collided with a bridge near Alabanka Chowk as the driver was drowsing.
Pramod was received dead at the District Headquarters Hospital at Kendrapada, while Akuli died on the way while being rushed to the SCB MCH, Cuttack. The critically injured are now undergoing treatment at the SCB.
