In a bizarre incident, the mother of a molested girl attempted to commit suicide as her demand for filing an FIR against the accused youth was spurned. According to information, a 17-year-old girl, working as a sweeper at a private school at Bagada under the Kendrapada Sadar police station, was allegedly molested by a local youth on Friday in the school premises.
After the victim brought the matter to her family members and school authority, locals convened a meeting to settle the matter amicably on Friday evening. But the victim’s mother did not want for a compromise and insisted that the youth be put behind the bars. As people tried to convince her again, the mother expressed her unhappiness and consumed some poisonous substance to end her life. She was then rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. When contacted, Kendrapara Sadar police station IIC Biranchi Bag said no FIR had been lodged.
