District Collector-cum-District Election Officer Nitin Bhanudas Jawale on Wednesday placed Sridhar Behera, a lecturer of the Pattamundai Women’s College, under suspension for violating the model code of conduct as he was recently found campaigning for the ruling BJD candidate in a rally in the Pattamundai Assembly constituency.
According to Jawale, when the matter came to his notice he directed a probe against the lecturer and issued a show-cause notice to him on April 6.But he did not respond to the notice. A committee conducted inquiry and found the photographic evidence that Behera was standing on a vehicle along with the BJD candidate and campaigning for the candidate.
It may be noted that the Collector had on April 3 suspended Gyan Ranjan Samal, a clerk of Palimi-based Janata High School, for campaigning for the BJD candidate of the Ali Assembly seat after getting his name deleted from poll duty with getting the assistance of some officials.Similarly, on March 13, Swarup Das, Junior Engineer of Kendrapada block, was suspended for violating the model code.
