The Congress on Monday threatened to gherao the Raj Bhavan and resort to a State-wide agitation on November 2 if all culprits in the Koraput’s Kunduli minor gangrape case are not arrested by then.
“Even as 14 days have passed, the police have failed to arrest culprits in the case. Rather they are forcing the victim to charge her statement and harassing her family members. If culprits are not arrested by November 2, the Congress will be forced to gherao the Raj Bhavan and initiate a State-wide agitation,” said PCC president Prasad Harichandan at a Press meet here.
Harichandan demanded that compensation of Rs 8.25 lakh be given to the victim’s family as per Government norms at the earliest.
When asked if Congress would demand a CBI inquiry, Harichandan said, “We have no trust in the CBI as it has already failed to give justice in the Anjana Mishra and Itisthree Pradhan cases.”
It may be noted that the victim, in her complaint, has alleged that four youths in military dress forcibly took her to a secluded place and raped her in turns on October 10 when she was returning to her village Sorishapadar from a photo studio in Kunduli Hatapadar.
The victim is undergoing treatment in the Sahee laxman Nayak Medical College Hospital at Koraput.
