Koraput gangrape: Cops still clueless

PNS

The police, who are investigating the Kunduli minor tribal girl gangrape case, are still clueless and yet to indentify the culprits involved in the outrageous crime though they claim the probe has made headway.

However, Southern Range DIG S Shyni said the police have some clues and investigation into the case is on the right track. She assured that the culprits would be behind bars soon.

Meanwhile, after CRPF and BSF senior officials have denied the claims that their personnel are involved in the incident, the Maoists also refuted the allegations of their involvement and condemned the incident.

Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) in an audio tape has denied any involvement of Maoist cadres in the dreadful crime. Besides strongly condemning the incident the Red rebels have called for Koraput bandh on Monday.

The bandh has been called in protest of the alleged atrocities of security personnel on innocent villagers.

“Maoists are being falsely implicated in the case and no cadre is behind such incident,” said Jagabandhu, a member of AOBSZC of CPI(Maoist) in the audio tape.

It might be mentioned here that the district Congress is all braced up to hold a seven-hour shutdown to protest against the police for its failure to nab the miscreants.

On the day, a State Commission for Women (SCW) team visited the hospital and met the victim girl. The team members said they have sought a report from the police within two days.
