To maintain peace and harmony for the upcoming Christmas, Kandhamal Collector Tirumula Naik called a meeting where senior district officials, including SP, ADM, Sub Collector, PD DRDA, Tehsildars, BDOs, IICs of all Police Stations and SDPOs were present.
The Collector said all arrangements should be made to stop communal riots and maintain peace in the tribal district. Any type of land disputes regarding church and temple should be sorted out immediately, he directed to the tehsildars, adding that meetings should be arranged at panchayat and block level to maintain peace and harmony among all the sections of society.
SP Kanwar Bisal Singh said the first and foremost thing to maintain peace is intelligence gathering. He assured that 50 per cent of job was over in that direction. He said that the coming 10 days were very important.
Besides, he informed that VHF could be used to transmit important messages, while CCTVs would be installed in all forest gates in remote area for close monitoring of the activities of the people. The mediapersons were urged to act in a constructive way for generation of brotherhood among the communities.
