KKD to declare Narla candidate on February 23

Win or no-win’, the Koshal Kranti Dal (KKD) is in a strong position to cause defeat of a couple of stalwarts in the Narla Assembly constituency in Kalahandi district, which is going to witness a quadrangle fight this time, claimed KKD working president Baidyanath Mishra at a Press conference here on Friday.

The KKD would announce its candidate for the seat on February 23 and might prove to be the dark horse in the fray, he said after a fortnight-long tour of the constituency. Four more Koshal Panchayats were formed during this period, taking the final tally to 15.

Mishra said the BJD has over 20 aspirants, including former MlA Balabhadra Majhi and Dhaneswar Majhi while the BJP, which finished second in the last elections, has about five aspiring candidates. There would be at least five Independent candidates besides the Odisha Jan Morcha, AAP, Samruddha Odisha, Utkal Bharat and Ama Odisha likely to field their nominees.

Apprehending defeat, leader of Opposition in the Assembly Bhupinder Singh is looking for an escape route through the lok Sabha, but according to sources his bête-noir Bhakta Das is not likely to give way, Mishra said. By the end of February, the battle-line would be more or less drawn, he said.
