The railway authorities have blocked tracks which crisscross a panchayat road near the Mugamahadev Road railway station causing problems for thousands of residents of Bhagalpur, Balita, Gobardhanpur, Bileipada, Soyabahal, Raikal, lahanda of Birikalaunder Joda block in Keonjhar district.
local people, patients and school going children are facing problems, as the authority put iron pillars in the road and dug deep hole in both sides of the track.
This broad gauge track is a busy line and the villagers have to wait to pass to the other side of the track and many times accident takes place leading to loss of life and property. In this regard, the villagers have been demanding for the construction of manned level crossing at Bhagalpur near Bilaipada for the safety but instead of taking any steps for construction of level crossing, the railway authority suddenly blocked the track, sources revealed.
The villagers were going to stage a dharna on the track to stop the movement but villagers Bidydhar Sahoo, Ajit Naik, Naba Behera, Gudu Rai ,Kishan Munda advised them to maintain peace and wait for the decision of the district administration and the Barbil Tehsildar to whom they had gone to approach.
If barricade would not be removed and level crossing is not constructed immediately, the villagers would stage Dharana on NH-215 and railway track near Mugamahadev Road for fulfilment of their demand, sources revealed.
