PNS

The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) here organised a mega guardians’ meet on Sunday with more than 50,000 people, all parents and guardians of tribal students of the institute, attending the event.

The assembly of such a large number of tribals representing 62 tribes and 13 primitive tribal communities from all corners of Odisha and other States like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Assam was one of its kind.

like every year, the KISS authorities made elaborate arrangements, including food, shelter and transport to host the parents. The parents expressed their profound gratitude to founder of KIIT & KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta for securing the future of their 25,000 tribal children through the KISS, which provides education from KG to PG, vocational training, food, accommodation and all other basic necessities absolutely free of cost. Guardians were satisfied to see that their children are getting education and care at par with any good public school in a beautiful environment.

Dr Samanta said that only education can ensure a dignified life to tribal children as the tribals’ traditional way of living is now impossible due to lack of natural resources. The guardians of the students, who are high achievers, were felicitated.
