PNS

Thousands of members of the All Odisha Kinnar and Third Gender Association took out a rally from Master Canteen Square to the Naveen Niwas on Tuesday protesting embezzlement of Rs 1-crore fund meant for the welfare of third gender under various schemes by Mira Parida and Sadhan Mishra and demanding their arrest.

They charged that NGO Sakha run by Parida and a Kolkata based NGO bungled funds worth Rs 1 crore of various State and Central Government schemes, while not a single pie was spent for the third gender persons in 20 districts of the State. Besides, Parida, Mishra and Meghana Sahu were behind several incidents of clash among the Kinnars in the State, they charged.

A delegation later met the SSEPD Director and CM’s Joint Secretary and handed over a memorandum demanding a CBI probe into the bungling by the two NGOs, including Rs 25 lakh from the Khadi Board embezzled by Parida in name of rehabilitation of Kinnars and investigation into the clash between two Kinnar groups and an attempt to kill one Rubi Kinnar by pushing her from a roof of a three-storied building in Bhadrak.
