Kin say no to contest polls: Man ends life

PNS

A person on Friday hanged himself to death in Kendrapada district allegedly for family and relatives not allowing him to contest in the upcoming panchayat elections.

Nabaghana Malik, a resident of Gulnagar village under Kendrapada block, was earning his livelihood by pulling a trolley rickshaw. He wanted to contest as a Ward Member candidate from Ward-10, and he had revealed his desire to his family. But his family did not agree to the proposal, following which he was in a state of depression.

Shockingly, Nabaghana’s family members found him hanging from a tree nearby his house.

His family members said they had barred him

from fighting the elections due to the family’s poor economic condition and his low income status.
